KANDUNGAN FENOLIK DAN AKTIVITAS ANTIOKSIDAN EKSTRAK DAUN GAMBIR KERING (Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb)

Abstract


A research has been conducted to determinate phenolic contents and antioxidant activity of dried gambir (Uncaria gambir (Hunter) Roxb) leaves extract with 40, 60 and 800C temperature variations. Extract was made by using maceration method with ethyl acetate solvent. Extract rendement result of each temperature were 1,615, 1,663, and 1,768%, respectively. Moisture content examination at each temperature were 28,69, 25,43, and 16,48%, respectively, and ash content of each temperature were 0,438, 0,419, and 0,364%, respectively. The results of TLC Rf values at each temperature were 0,825; 0,85 and 0,85, respectively. Determination of phenolic contents was performed by using Folin-Ciocalteu method and the result for each temperature were 132,82 mg, 157,13 mg and 172,62 mg GAE/mL, respectively. Antioxidant activity tests were performed by using DPPH and vitamin C as reference standard with results at each temperature were 32,026; 22, 788, and 28,343 ppm, respectively. Antioxidant activity on gambir leaves increased from temperature 40oC to 60oC and decreased at temperature 80oC, this result because antioxidant increased by rising temperature then constant and down again with extreme temperature.
